Epée, a special sword with a hard blade and a large guard for its handle. This sword was the first sport that an Iranian played in the Olympics. The Olympics were held in Paris in 1900, and although athletes competed in only 19 sports, they lasted six months. Six months that saw many events, just one of which was the assassination of Mozaffar al-Din Shah in Paris.
Iran's name appears for the first time in the Olympics during this period, and its only participant also had an interesting story.
