You can relocate the PMD/FSD anywhere your cable will go far enough for. I thought about and have seen pictures of people putting their PMD's in the cab of the truck under the dash near the air vents, but i didn't want to mess with trying to find a hole in the firewall big enough to get the cable through and didnt want to worry about spinning drinks on it, or getting moisture build up fron the air conditioner. I know being in the front bumper may get rain water splashed on it, but the location its in, shouldn't get a lot of water there, and the way the cable is, should repel a lot of the water. This video will show you the Relocation kit I got for my Chevy 6.5 Diesel truck, its a 1997 3500 Dually. I got it from Ebay. When my truck was messing up, it would just shutt off, like someone reached over and turned off the key. Sometimes it would start back up, and sometimes not. When it did start, it would only run for a random amount of seconds, sometimes 5, 10 or 20 seconds then shut off. I did a little research and found out my PMD was bad, so instead of taking it off the side of the fuel pump, under the intake manifold, I just ordered a new PMD from Ebay, from a user called Pensacola Diesel, I've read they have some good stuff. I will also show and tell you what PMD / FSD to look for. They have BLACK ones and GREY ones. Clean your PMD off as good as you can and look to see what color it is, black or grey. It is located under the intake manifold, bolted to the Fuel Injection Pump on the left, (driver) side. The wiring harness and the extension cable is different for both of them, they won't interchange, so make sure you know what is currently on your fuel pump and order the correct one, because they are expensive and you might not be able to return it depending on where you buy it. And if you get the wrong one, the only way to make it work is to get a new wiring harness for the Fuel Injection Pump under the intake manifold and you have to re-wire the different harness to the pump to get the different pmd to connect to the wire cable, then you would have to make sure to get the correctly notched extension harness. I have examples of the different notches in the GREY and the BLACK PMD's in this video. The GREY PMD has square notches in the middle of each side and so will the Resistor, and the BLACK PMD has half moon notches on the top left and right, also kind of a square notch on the top front. So the Resistor can only go in one way too, which is nice in case you drop it. I wouldn't go to the Dealer and buy another StanaDyne, they suck. There are newer ones on the market now, made thicker for better heat tolerance. Stanadyne is the factory GM, PMD module. You can buy these at the Dealership, very expensive, over $500. At Autozone, O'reilly Auto Parts are around $250 to $350 and work perfectly fine, I tried a Dorman one from O'reilly, before I got this pensacola diesel pmd from Ebay ($179) and it worked great. I bought the re-location kit from Ebay too. It includes the heatsink aluminum finned cooler block, 4 allen bolts, a bumper bolt and a silicone pad. I bolted mine to the inside of the front bumper and ran the extension cable straight forward, under the battery cable then down next to the hood latch and into the front bumper. Just zip tie it up good, I haven't yet and it still fine, but I plan to, I just don't drive the truck very often. Also I think I ordered my RESISTOR from O'reilly Auto Parts because on there website it showed at the time I ordered mine it came with the #5 and the #9, but the first time I ordered them, only 1 of them came so I had to bring that to their attention and had to order another one that came with both, so be aware of that!
