This is my new #MercedesAMG GT 55, and it might just be the most important AMG on sale today.
In a world where V8 options are slowly disappearing, this car feels like a celebration of everything that made AMG special in the first place: a brutal cross-plane V8, outrageous presence, and the ability to make you grin even when you’re just crawling through traffic.
After 2,000 miles of ownership, I’m beginning to think this #amggt might be the best daily #AMG I’ve ever owned… and that’s saying something when you consider the cars I’ve hard before it: From the legendary Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG to everything in between! AMG’s modern sports cars have always had a very clear identity, and this one mixes them in a unique way.
It blends the aggression and emotion of an AMG sports car with the comfort and usability of something like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. In other words, it’s a car with a dual personality: one moment it’s a relaxed grand tourer you can drive every day, and the next it’s an angry V8 monster that reminds you why AMG built its reputation on engines that make you feel something.
And that’s before we even talk about the design.
Because the AMG GT doesn’t just look like a sports car – it looks like a supercar. Its proportions trace a lineage that runs all the way back to the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, through icons like the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and the SLS, and into the modern AMG era.
