The design is plastic and a bit chunky, but from the front, it has a simple, round, small-bezel design that looks great. The display is superb. The colors are vibrant, the watch faces are packed with useful data, and the perfectly round display feels as good as any Wear OS or Samsung Gear watch.
The Amazfit Verge has all the extras you could want: heart rate, GPS, onboard music storage (if you download it from a PC), Bluetooth for headphones, and on Android phones, it can be used as a speakerphone. It's missing a few things, though, notably swim-ready waterproofing. IP68 is sufficient for rain showers or falls in a pool, but nothing more. And it lacks any voice assistant functionality, like what Google, Samsung, and Apple Watch wearables have.
The Amazfit Verge has a battery life of 8 days. The watch handles its sleep/wake functions in a fun way, much like the Amazfit Bip: raise your wrist and you can see the watch's colorful dials (packed with useful fitness data). But to activate the watch face and navigate apps, you have to press the button on the Verge's isolated side. A "tap to wake" option in the settings didn't work as well as I'd hoped.
