Clips recorded 2nd May 2023, 16th April 2024, and 6th April 2023.    • Rathlin Island insects and other invertebr...   In early spring, Andrena nigroaenea is one of the first solitary bee species to appear on Rathlin, and perhaps the most numerous. They can be found in multiple locations close to the harbour, where they are often seen feeding on Dandelions and Daisies on sunny days. These clips show the larger, densely furry females, and the slimmer and more fluffy males with their distinctly longer antennae.
