This is probably one of the cutest animals on earth.
Meet the Red Panda.
Scientifically known as Ailurus fulgens,
this adorable creature is native to the forests
of the eastern Himalayas
and Southwestern China.
Its striking rust-colored fur and bushy tail
make it an unforgettable sight.
But do you know that despite its name,
the red panda is not actually a panda?
Although it also has elongated wrist bones
or ‘false thumbs’ for grabbing bamboo similar to panda,
this creature is actually more related to raccoons and weasels.
With their agile climbing skills and playful antics,
red pandas are as endearing as they are elegant.
They use their long bushy tails for balance
and their furry feet to keep them warm.
Red pandas are very hard to observe in the wild
and most studies about them have taken place in captivity.
They spend much of their time in the trees
and are known for their solitary nature.
