Breaking out of the fighting genre, Arc System Works' new Guilty Gear 2: Overture is creating its own type of genre self-titled Melee Action which is originally the type of game the creator wanted to make.
In the game you attempt to capture "Ghosts" or bases which are integral for the Master to create "mana" and provide power to your troops. With mana you hire troops and increase your power. Of course your opponent's troops protect the ghosts. Victory is gained by capturing the opponent's Master Ghost.
In the Strategy portion of the game, your troops can be ordered to where they are needed and do your bidding. Proper use of your soldiers is key to victory.
There are five Masters to choose from and each has their own tribe from which troops are hired. There are several new characters but Sol Badguy is still there with Ky along with their classic moves from the previous Guilty Gears. New controls such as dashing helps the character maneuver around the maps.
Story of the game picks up several years after the previous Guilty Gears ended and the creator hopes to continue this series.
Guilty Gear 2: Overture will be released on November 29th for Xbox 360.
