Exploring the fountains at Blenheim Palace

The Blenheim Palace gardens boast numerous fountains, adding to the grandeur of the estate. Here's a highlight of two prominent ones:
*The Mermaid Fountain:* The centerpiece of the Italian Garden is the Mermaid Fountain, a gilded bronze sculpture depicting a mermaid holding aloft a crown. Designed by American artist Thomas Waldo Story, it was installed in 1912. The fountain underwent a major restoration project in 2012, which involved removing old layers of gold leaf and replacing them with 9,000 fresh sheets of 23-carat gold leaf.

*Water Terraces:* The Water Terraces, located on the southwestern side of the palace, feature a series of ponds and fountains set over cascading levels. The central, paved area of the lower terrace is flanked by sculptures and provides a picturesque view.
