Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy problem. Excessive blood pressure, high levels of protein in urine, which signal kidney impairment (proteinuria), and other evidence of organ damage are all symptoms of preeclampsia. Pre-eclampsia commonly develops after 20 weeks of pregnancy in a woman who previously had normal blood pressure. Both the mother and the infant are at risk of serious, perhaps deadly consequences. There could be no signs or symptoms. High blood pressure and protein in the urine are two of the most common symptoms. Swelling in the legs and water retention are also possible symptoms, but they can be difficult to identify from normal pregnancy. Pre-eclampsia is frequently treated with oral or intravenous medicines until the baby is old enough to be delivered. The video gives details on these in brief.
