Hello, dear needlewomen!
Natalia Alimpieva with you.
Today I'm presenting another rug knitted using the "Free Geometry" technique; I've called it "Steps." As a reminder, the main feature of this technique is that you can knit it in different colors, but without breaking the cord or pulling it through; you always use only one thread. I've already shown a couple of rugs using this technique: "Free Geometry" and "Perspective."

When knitting, I use only single crochets and chain stitches, i.e., the simplest elements. The secret to changing colors is to knit in different directions, either in rows or in the round, depending on your imagination.

To make this rug, I needed two skeins of cord in contrasting shades. This is a 5mm polyester cord with a core made by our own company, "Master Cords." You can order the cord in our online store: http://шнур-купить.рф. Hook #10.

1. Start knitting with a small rectangle in the first color – the size is up to you. Knit in rows, i.e., back and forth. Here's the pattern diagram. When the rectangle has reached your desired size, for example, this one, remove the hook from the working loop and secure it, for example, with a marker.
2. Then introduce the second color and knit in rows, but around one of the rectangle's corners... Here's the diagram. When you feel it's right, stop knitting with this color, secure the working stitch, and return to knitting with the first color.
3. Knit the resulting rectangle with the first color, but on the other side.
4. Continue knitting with both colors, alternately, first on one side, then on the other.
Further development of the pattern is up to you! Let your imagination run wild!
I made this rug from two skeins. Size: 75 cm x 75 cm.
