October 10 is World Mental Health Day, a significant milestone in highlighting the challenges faced by millions of people worldwide. It is estimated that one in four people will suffer from a mental health-related diagnosis in their lifetime, turning this reality into an urgent and collective issue.

The job search process can be particularly complex for those people experiencing a disability resulting from a mental health diagnosis. The job interview, in particular, can be anxiety-provoking: difficult questions, CV voids that are hard to explain, and the constant question of whether or not to share their personal situation.

We want to transform that narrative this World Mental Health Day 2025. Instead of focusing on barriers, we want to shift the spotlight towards talent. On skills, on stories of overcoming barriers, on what each person can contribute.

Gema is 30 years old, she is an administrative assistant and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder five years ago. After a depressive crisis, she had to quit her job in a logistics company. Today, after a recovery process with medical treatment and psychotherapy, she feels ready to get back to work. She has an interview. She is nervous. She sits down in a nearby bar and, in a spontaneous conversation with a stranger, shares her fears, her doubts, her desires. What she doesn't know is that this woman... will be the one interviewing her minutes later.

At Fundación Adecco, through our mental health project, we work to ensure that people like Gema can access real opportunities. We work with companies to promote inclusive environments, break down preconceived notions, and acknowledge the value of each individual, beyond any diagnosis.
