This video started as a simple storage upgrade… and turned into a full case transplant.
After adding three enterprise 8TB drives, I ran into an unexpected issue: my original Corsair case no longer had compatible HDD trays. Rather than bodge a solution or chase discontinued parts, I opted to move everything into a different Corsair case that properly supports multiple hard drives.
In this video, I walk through:
Why the case swap became the sensible solution
Installing the new drives
Creating a RAID 5 volume using EZ-RAID in the BIOS
Initialising and formatting the array in Windows
Ending up with a 16TB, fault-tolerant storage volume for DaVinci Resolve exports and project archives
This isn’t a deep technical tutorial — menus vary between motherboards — but if your board supports EZ-RAID, the core steps shown here should help you understand the process and decide if RAID 5 is right for your setup.
For me, this upgrade isn’t about chasing specs.
It’s about removing friction.
With a safe, reliable place for my DaVinci Resolve projects and exports, I can head into 2026 and beyond knowing that editing the journeys I take with Phoenix won’t be held back by my tools.
The tools are ready.
The journeys continue.
