Ever seen an engine block carved from a solid chunk of aluminum? That’s a billet engine block — and it’s built to handle insane power.

Unlike cast blocks, billet blocks are CNC-machined from 6061-T6 or 7075 aluminum, making them stronger, more consistent, and capable of holding over 12,000 horsepower in Top Fuel dragsters.

There are two main types:
Dry billet blocks — no coolant, cooled only by nitromethane fuel, used in engines that run for just seconds before being rebuilt.
Wet billet blocks — with normal cooling systems, designed for 2,000–3,000 HP builds that can even be street-driven (2JZs, VR38s, LS engines).

But strength comes at a price — a billet block alone costs $7,000 to $17,000… and way more if custom.
