A song made for my Genshin OC, Marin Tataurus, The Abyss Incarnate.
He also goes by other names including The Spiral, The Nulled One, The Astral, The Cosmic King, The Void, The Endless, The Cursed Realm, King of Nothing and Everything and The Tartarus.
According to Canon Lore, Celestia was actually an extraterrestrial invader to Teyvat. The Primordial One defeated the Dragon Sovereigns (The original rulers of the realm) and took over with his four shining shades (of which unknown goddess was a part of), establishing himself as a supreme deity.
The abyss, at least in my interpretation, is actually a sentient being rather than a place. Teyvat was its body and upon sensing Celestia as a pathogen that defeated its antibodies (The Dragon Sovereigns), manifested itself in the form of its enemies: A Humanoid God of Gods by the name of Marin Tataurus
Unfortunately, The Spiral failed to calculate that as a natural phenomenon and as a function of the world, it does not possess true free will and agency.
And so, its human form was incapable of retaining sentience and could not carry out its purposes without being directed by a higher power.
The Primordial One, hoping to harvest the might of the Abyss for himself, sent The Unknown Goddess to enslave the human form of the abyss.
Marin allows this to happen because
He wishes to learn the art of free will from Celestia and the ability to control one’s destiny~ A promise used by The Primordial One to ensure the loyalty of his subjects.
He wants to learn how to travel between universes like Celestia so that he may devour those worlds to sate his endless appetite
Sadly, Celestia did not in fact use the power of destiny, but fate.
Though its subjects are granted the illusion of free will, their futures are very much cast in stone as they are, quite literally, written in the stars as constellations.
Marin did, however, manage to learn how to create humans that were indistinguishable from Celestia’s progeny.
He would then direct his creations to form godless nations like Khaenriah and Sal Vyndagnir to combat Celestia for him.
He continues to plot the fall of his keepers from the background as the main storyline progresses.
