Uh oh. A school bus full of 13 kids (and parents) got pulled over by Polk County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jason Vaughan two days before Christmas! Well, they actually got pulled over for being on Santa’s nice list. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office works with lots of kids and families all year working hard to keep crime low in their communities. Deputies identified these kids as deserving of a nice surprise.
Instead of a ticket, Santa delivered the great news to the kids: they were each going to be given $100 to spend for Christmas at the Bartow Walmart store! They were delighted. This was all because of the great folks at PenFed Credit Union (formerly Magnify) as a part of their annual Christmas giving campaign.
Special thanks go to the good folks at Polk County Public Schools for providing the transportation, the associates at the Bartow Walmart who helped the kids shop, and to John Santarpia, Al Dorsett, and the many volunteers at PenFed Credit Union who made this day possible.
We know this is a Christmas these families won’t soon forget!
We wish you all a very safe and Merry Christmas, and prosperous new year!
