The Internet is a vast, interconnected computer network that shares information and resources. It relies on various protocols to send this information from one computer to another. These protocols serve as the basic rules by which all data is transmitted across the Internet.
Many different protocols can be used to transmit data over the Internet, but the most important ones are:
• ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) determines where an IP address corresponds with a MAC address.
• FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a method of uploading files from one computer to another.
• SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is used by email servers to send emails between servers.
• HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) allows users to navigate web pages using hyperlinks.
• SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encrypts transmissions between clients and servers.
• TLS (Transport Layer Security) provides encryption for secure web browsing sessions by securing data communications at the transport layer of each protocol stack used for establishing connections between peers to transmit data back and forth over them; TLS supports both
• HTTPS Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is a protocol that allows secure communication over a computer network. It's used on the World Wide Web (WWW), in email applications and instant messaging services to provide secure connections between client and server.
• DNS (Domain Name Server) is a service that converts human-readable website names into IP addresses. For example, when you type google.com into your browser, DNS servers are queried to find the corresponding IP address so your computer can connect to Opke's servers and load the website.
• DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is a networking protocol that automatically provides an IP address to any device connected to a network. This is useful for devices such as laptops and phones, which move around frequently and must be able to connect to the Internet whenever they are within range of an access point.
