First time trying to mix a beat made on the MPC2000XL with my old (but new :-)) Fostex M280 4 tracks cassette recorder, using the 8 outs.
Unfortunately I was not awared that, on the 2000XL, is not possible to route stereo samples/tracks to a single of the 8 mono outs; in fact, a stereo sample/track can only be routed to 2 mono outputs, 1 for each channell (left and right)....
Sooooo, I had to assign some of the outputs to different samples/tracks.
In this case, on the mixer I have mapped:
the kick on inputs 1& 2 (L & R);
the snare and hats on inputs 3 & 4 (L & R);
the piano samples on inputs 5 & 6 (L & R);
the vocals + synth + trumpet samples on inputs 7 & 8 (L & R);
I then started to mix by modifying levels, pan, EQ and the send/return fx levels of each input.
I used the Sp404 for the send/return FX with vinyl sim compression.
FInally, when I found the good mix (imho), I started jamming with the 2000XL plaaying the bea tin track mute.
Feel free to ask me any question about this end enjoy! :-)
