Hear from Mark Ferguson of neXtgen Agri to discuss breeding for genetic resistance to footrot and blowfly strike.
Previously working for The New Zealand Merino Company Ltd and now founder and CEO of neXtgen Agri, Mark has been heavily involved in research to identify genetics that are less susceptible to both footrot and blowfly strike including identifying indicator traits and developing scoring systems and EBVs for genetic selection.
Mark and neXtgen Agri work closely with stud breeders across New Zealand and Australia to develop, implement and support data driven breeding strategies for more disease resistant higher welfare productive sheep.
