Choi Ji-woo (Korean: 최지우; born June 11, 1975), born Choi Mi-hyang (최미향), is a South Korean actress.
Before she became the Queen of Melodrama and the unforgettable face of Winter Sonata, Choi Ji Woo had a very quiet beginning.
In 1994, under her real name Choi Mi hyang, she appeared in MBC’s 23rd talent recruitment class, marking her first step into Korean television.
This video looks back at Choi Ji Woo’s earliest appearance, long before fame and success.
Through rare footage and historical context, we explore her first impression, the pressure faced by newcomers in the 1990s Korean entertainment industry, and the moment that shaped her long and respected career.
For viewers who grew up watching Korean dramas in the late 1990s and early 2000s, this is a return to a slower era of storytelling, when stars were built through patience, discipline, and perseverance.
