In Kazakhs, each breed has its own surname (genealogy) and a sign (symbol — Tamga), which is used as a "quality mark" on items for livestock, weapons or architectural objects, or as a tribal symbol on graves. Each Tamga has its own meaning and rich history, which can sometimes tell a lot more than pedigree and written sources.
