Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke has died at the age of 29, the NBA team has confirmed.
Very sad news from the NBA community, Brandon Clarke, the Memphis Grizzlies forward player, has tragically passed away at the age of 29. The news was confirmed on Tuesday by the team in a statement that read, "We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke. Brandon was an outstanding teammate and even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten. We express our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time."
Brandon's cause of death is not yet revealed, however, it is reportedly being investigated as a possible overdose.
Current reports claim that officials found drug paraphernalia inside the home the NBA player was staying at on Monday, before his death.
Additionally, a dispatch audio has been released, as the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a medical emergency call around 5 PM on Monday, with paramedics reporting they got to the scene and discovered Clarke was deceased.
Brandon's death comes approximately six weeks after he was arrested in Cross County Arkansas, on April 1, 2026, following a high-speed chase where he allegedly reached speeds exceeding 100 mph. During the arrest, deputies found over 230 grams of kratom in his possession.
The news of his death has prompted a widespread outpouring of tributes from the NBA community, his former schools, and the city of Memphis at large.
