Film editor Chad Smith of http://www.remoteaccesspost.com goes over his workflow for dealing with DSLR footage in video post production. These DSLR workflow tips include fast batch renaming of footage files and getting timecode and reel names on your clips. This can be a big help when sorting through footage in larger projects, sending interviews out for transcription or getting your clips into DaVinci Resolve. The first step is to transcode the video files to an edit friendly codec like apple pro res or Avid DNX as h.264 files will not let you put in a timecode track. Then we go on to batch renaming in Namechanger and adding timecode to our clips with an app called qtChage from video tool shed. Following these first steps is a great way to help organize your footage and smooth out your workflow throughout your post production pipeline.
