Mortal Kombat" is a popular fighting video game franchise that was created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. The first installment in the series, simply titled "Mortal Kombat," was released in arcades in 1992 by Midway Games. It gained significant attention and controversy due to its violent and realistic graphics compared to other fighting games of the time.
"Mortal Kombat" features a unique gameplay style with digitized character sprites and a wide range of special moves, fatalities, and brutalities that players can perform to defeat their opponents. The game initially introduced seven playable characters: Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kano. Each character had their own distinct fighting style and special moves.
The storyline of the game revolves around a fighting tournament called Mortal Kombat, where Earthrealm's chosen warriors must battle against the forces of Outworld to prevent its ruler, the evil sorcerer Shang Tsung, from taking over Earth. The game's single-player mode consists of battling through a series of matches against AI-controlled opponents, with the final challenge being a confrontation with Shang Tsung himself.
"Mortal Kombat" received critical acclaim for its graphics, gameplay, and unique presentation, including its iconic "fatality" finishing moves, which allowed players to perform graphic and gory finishing maneuvers on their defeated opponents. The game's success led to the development of numerous sequels, spin-offs, movies, and other media adaptations, making "Mortal Kombat" one of the most enduring and recognizable fighting game franchises in the world.
Mortal Kombat 1 Release Date is September 19th 2023!
