In this video, we look at how you can create moving synth pads in FL Studio’s Harmless soft synth. Harmless is great for creating special digital synth sounds without making the process too complicated. In the video, we use the Saw oscillators combined with a low pass filter to make a low cut synth pad. Using the Harmonizer with the Grit knob gives the synth pad texture. The LFO modulation is the key to creating a movement to the synth pad. In FL Studio 20, it is easy to assign LFO modulation in the Harmless plugin. The synth pad is then assigned to a mixer track where the Fruity Delay 3 is added for some stereo width and depth. Next, some basic EQing is added with the Fruity Parametric EQ 2 to remove some low end and high end to the sound. Lastly, a gain plugin is added and automated to create sidechaining to the synth pad. The sidechaining ensures that the unsynced movement in the synth pad fits the groove of the rest of the elements in the track.
You can use these techniques for genres like Organic House, Lofi House, Deep House, or any other types of tracks where you want to add some more texture and ambience to your music.
