Today, I'm entering a place everyone knows, but not everyone knows what it's like "from the other side of the desk." I'm visiting the 5th General Secondary School in Chorzów to explore the teaching profession!
My guide is Tomek, an Italian teacher with 22 years of experience, who debunks myths about working in schools, salaries, and "free holidays."

💰 EARNINGS AND CAREER: How much does a teacher earn? See the rates for trainee, contract, tenured, and certified teachers. Tomek reveals that a certified teacher (the highest level) earns approximately 4,200 PLN gross (at the time of recording) and why many teachers have to work overtime, tutor, or work at multiple schools.
🎓 HOW TO BECOME A TEACHER? A master's degree (in a specific field) and pedagogical training (practicum, methodology) are required.
🕰️ WORKING TIME (MYTH 18 HOURS): We're debunking the myth that teachers work 18 hours a week! That's just the workload at the blackboard. Tomek explains what's involved in a 40-hour workweek (marking tests, documentation, meetings, trips, on-call duty).
🏖️ VACATION (MYTH 2 MONTHS): Do teachers get 2 months off? NO! The work lasts until mid-July (recruitment, documentation) and begins at the end of August. Furthermore, teachers can't take vacation time during the school year!
🇮🇹 LIVE LESSON: I'm taking part in an Italian lesson! You'll see how Tomek conducts classes, how he builds relationships with students, and why a "quiz at the beginning" is a good motivational method.
