The wiring method shown in the video is for a straight-through network or LAN cable. Also known as a normal network cable that you use to connect your PC or notebook to the router/switch/modem. Of course, you can also use it between a router and a switch and so on.
I have used this technique and the cheapo crimping tool to make myself Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6e cables without any problems. UTP, FTP, and even STP cables worked flawlessly.
The advantage of making your own network cable or patch cable is that it's usually cheaper and you can install it through the house easier as you can just wire the cable after it has been put through walls and traced around objects.
Do keep in mind the essentials:
after finishing, test it! I like to plug it into an easily accessible router and my PC when it comes to small cables. If going through walls, then I'd just use a notebook;
the correct order for wiring a network cable is the following, as you're looking away from the connector (that plastic clip is pointed away from you), from the left to the right: stripe orange, orange, stripe green, blue, stripe blue, green, stripe brown, brown.
