Simply the Best Audiophile Vinyl :-D
Dear Friends! This is the best recorded and mastered audiophile LP i have ever heard...and it is ENJOYABLE to be listened to AS WELL!!! :-D You know the usual criticisms of "audiophile LPs" being of somewhat lesser musical enjoyability... but this is simply outstanding.
It is limited.

Hear it and enjoy Doug's wonderful musicianship as well.
It allows you to distinguish clearly all the differences between the sound parameters between different components you're testing, e.g. different phonostage models, different cartridges, different phono leads, etc. The recording quality is SOOOOOO high that higher performing models will really sound distinctly better than the lesser performing models. Using this, one can really hear the miles ahead difference between a proper MC setup from a MM setup. I was shocked and amazed myself.
There are many LPs presumable "audiophile" quality (I will not name them) LPs and very highly heralded...seriously... but if you put them on a good MM setup costing $3000 and then a good MC setup costing twice or even 3 times, THE DIFFERENCE IS NOT BIG.
However when you load this Reference Recordings LP, GOODNESS GRACIOUS...... THE DIFFERENCE is huge!!!
From then I realize: that if a LP recording is live recorded in Keith Johnson's ways, mastered and manufactured, no EQ, etc and produced in such high standards, there are really so many magical details stored within that only a capable MC setup can fully exploit and showcase.
This being said :-), if we listen to 99% of vinyl records that are produced in the usual common and usual standards, there really isn't much to be enjoyed more by investing in an expensive MC setup.
JUST A good affordable MM setup WILL DO!!! Don't get into MC...and don't waste time, money and effort and sweat over audiophilia.
ENJOY YOUR MUSIC. MM is VERY GOOOOOOOOOD and will suffice. And it is so much more affordable and EASY TO GET IT RIGHT!!!
(All my friends here all know that I play my MM Rega system as much as my MC Avid system and I continue to enjoy MM THOROUGHLY!!! I am not those horrid MC snobs who look down on and cannot enjoy MM setups anymore. )
Back to the case in point, Prof Keith O Johnson's and Paul Stubblebine's hard work and dedicated efforts should be TREASURED.
