This video will show you how to take a snapshot of a VirtualBox VM.
In the video I also discuss the difference between a VirtualBox VMsnapshot and a clone.

Snapshots allow you to save a particular state of a VM; this can be handy when you want to test something, or you’re about to make a change to that VM, and you need to be able to roll back to a working instance. Not only does this save you a lot of headaches, but it can be a serious time-saver.

Steps to how to take a snapshot of a VirtualBox VM:

Step 1
Open virtual box and click on the VMyou want to take the snapshot of then click the 3 bars and click snapshots. Snapshot can be taken weather the machine is on or off.

Step 2
Click current state if needed then click take.
Name your snapshot

Step 3
That's it. You can now restore your virtual machine any time form this point in time. Its like having a backup of your VM.

Step 4
To restore your VM from this snapshot you first need to make sure your VM is powered off.
Click on the VM then click the 3 bars and select snapshots in the right you will see the snapshots listed.
Click on your snapshot name and then click restore.
