How can you find the correct resistance value for an LED? How do you control the current flow to avoid LED damage? What is a current-voltage characteristic? And how can you safely connect an LED to the Arduino microcontroller? In this video, I will answer all these questions for you. Also, we will conduct some experiments, including the Arduino UNO.

The major purpose of this video is to show you why LEDs need to be connected to a resistor, how you can dimension it correctly and also what happens when you choose not to use a resistor at all. Also, we will hook up an LED to an Arduino microcontroller - and by the way, this is the first video in a mini-series on how to build an Arduino pedestrian light, so make sure to check out the rest of the playlist as well.
