Let's talk about the subnets in AWS VPC:
PUBLIC SUBNET:
So, the general definition states that, If a subnet's traffic is routed to an internet gateway, the subnet is known as a public subnet.
and if you want your instance over public subnet to talk to the internet over the internet gateway, you should either have a Public IPV4 address or an IPV4 elastic IP.
PRIVATE SUBNET:
So If a subnet doesn't have a route to the internet gateway, the subnet is known as a private subnet.
and its target is always the local IP address range
