Indexing is the method of collecting, parsing, and storing data to help a fast and accurate information retrieval of a website. There are many reasons why you may choose to prevent search engines to index your website, in my own case, I always disable search engine optimisation from indexing my website when I am developing it and it is not finished yet. I only choose to index my WordPress website when it’s finishes and ready to go live to the public.

Step 1. Login to your WordPress Dashboard
Step 2. Go to Settings
Step 3. Choose Reading
Step 4. Click to tick Discourage search engine from indexing this site.
Step 5. Click button to save your changes.
