Hello, I'm Joe from Cheap Joe's Art Stuff. Id like to show you a new magic eraser for watercolor. It's called a Paint Eraser. It comes in a little package like this. It looks like this when you get it. It looks like the Mister Magic that you get in the grocery store, and if you're placing an order anytime soon you can probably go to the grocery store and get that because its very similar. We think ours is a little better - it is not manufactured by Proctor & Gamble or distributed by them, and it really does work great.
So I'd like to show you how to do it. I have a painting here that is a failed painting. It's got all the colors and the stuff in it. So I'm going to try to clean it up with the magic eraser, which is really fun. I'm going to take some of this tape, I don't like this green roof or this dark roof, its casts the wrong color, all this is a mess. I don't know how this is gonna work out. This is 300 lb rough paper, and it should withstand me scrubbing it this way. I know it will hold the tape. The tape won't tear it when it comes up. I'm just going to some in here like that and get rid of that green and some of that red in there, and we'll put some of that color back.
I'm going to cut the Paint Eraser in half with some scissors, because I don't need that much. I'll dip it in water, and then squeeze the water out. Then I simply start scrubbing it, and we'll see what happens here. Look at that it's coming right out of there. Uh oh, I tore it in two. That's going to leave a really nice under color there. Look at that, neat! Now I'll take the tape off here, and look at that! Got rid of all that ugly green paint, and got rid of some of the dark stuff that's in there. It's already beginning to look better.
Now I'm going to take off this dark blue right here. It's so dark, lets get rid of some of that, see if it will take that off. I'll leave that dark side back there. So we'll tape it like that and see what happens. Wet the eraser, and simply start scrubbing. Look at that, coming right off! It's going to leave a nice color under there. I'm going to blot it a little bit, take the tape off, and look at that. Much nicer. It just works like a charm.
Now I don't like this foreground here because it got so messy and muddy. What a mess I've made over there. So I'll simply take my eraser, and without taping or anything, I'll lightly scrub, and I'm going to guess it comes out much nicer than what I've got. I've nothing to lose! So if I have a painting that's not working, I just scrub it over. Lets take a paper towel now, and take out some of that paint. Look at that. I just love this thing. it's so much fun. It seems like I always end up with a better painting than I had in the beginning. let's see what will happen if I bring a little light in here. I don't care for the color of this house. I could glaze over it, but lets see if we can clean it up any, without doing that. And it might come back a little. that's not bad at all. I like that now, much nicer.
Now I can come back, and touch it up. Let's put a little bit of barn color in it. Why not. We can do the same thing down here with a little color back in there, and its going to become a much nicer painting than it was. I'll put the shadow back on this house right here. Perhaps even a window or two. Now we'll put a mat around it, and see where we are. That's much better already. Its a better painting than it was. It's got some softness to it now, some hard edges and soft edges, some colors blending better in here.
Scrubbing is a fun way to go, and You can end up with a painting that I don't believe you can paint direct. So its fun, and easy, and takes even staining colors out. I think you'll like it. I hope you do.
