Following topic covers the syllabus of O levels computer science

Sound is a form of energy created by vibrations that travel through a medium, for example, a liquid (such as water), a solid (such as the floor), or a gas (such as air). It's characterized by its frequency (pitch), amplitude (loudness), and wavelength.

Sound waves consists of:

• Frequency
• wavelength
• amplitude.

Frequency
Frequency, sometimes referred to as pitch, is the number of times per second that a sound pressure wave repeats itself.
Or
Number of waves produced each second

Wave length
It is simply the size of a wave, measured from one peak to the next.

Amplitude
The amplitude specifies the loudness of the sound.

Sampling Resolution

The sampling resolution (sometimes referred to as the bit depth) is the measure of the number of bits per sample.

Sampling Rate

The number of sound samples captured each second is known as the sampling rate. This frequency is expressed in hertz (Hz), where one hertz equals one sample per second.

Sound waves must be sampled in order to be stored in a computer since analogue data cannot be processed by computers. Sampling is the process of calculating the sound wave's amplitude for this process analogue to digital converter (ADC) is used.

The sound waves are sampled on a regular basis to transform the analogue data to digital. Since the sound's amplitude cannot be measured exactly, estimates are recorded instead.

Formula of file size calculation of an audio file
filesize = (sampling frequency * bit depth * length)
The calculated file size will be measured in bytes (because we have divided the answer by 8), the sampling frequency will be in hertz, the bit depth in number of bits and the length will be in seconds.
