Learn how to add a GIF to your Scratch project!
To add a GIF, select "Upload Backdrop" or "Upload Sprite" in the bottom corner of the screen. Choose a GIF saved on your computer and click "Open." In the costumes tab, you should see a sprite with many different costumes because a GIF is like a really fast slideshow of pictures. If you only see one costume, you don't have a GIF.
To animate your GIF, select an events block and a repeat block like "Repeat Forever." Place a "Next Costume" block inside your repeat block and run the event. Add a "Wait" block in the repeat block and change it to a number that's less than one second, like 0.1 or 0.5, to slow down the GIF.
Add a "Switch Costume" block before your repeat block to make your GIF start at the beginning.
