Friction test on Addinol Super Light 5W40 oil
Round 3
Sample material: spring bar
What does the test show?
The friction test is to show the resistance of the oil film to tearing (strength of the oil film).
Metal parts in the engine during operation (friction, e.g. pistons) can lead to scratches and scratches. The better the quality of the oil, the better it should protect the engine, against their formation.
Each sample subjected to this test will certainly have some scratches (cavities). By measuring the sample, we will be able to check the depth of the groove.

How is the test going?
A new sample is rubbed against the metal under a load of 1kg for 2 minutes. The diameter of the sample is then measured at its lowest point. Each new sample has a diameter of 3.00 from which it subtracts the diameter of the sample being tested. After subtracting both dimensions, we get a real measurement of sample wear. The lower the result, the better.
The result: 0.38
