In this Sixty Second Tutorial we look at three methods you can use to attempt to recover your work if you cannot open a Premiere Pro Project.

We cover the following...

1. If your Premiere Project won’t open the First thing to try is to import this corrupted project into a new Premiere Project.

Setup the new premiere project then go File - Import

Premiere will give you the option to import either a selected sequence or the entire project, it’s worth trying both options.

2. If this proves unsuccessful close premiere, then hold down the Alt key if you’re on PC if you’re using Windows or Option if you are on a Mac and open Premiere.

A window should open asking you if want to reset your preferences. Click ok and this sometimes can solve issues with opening particular projects.

3. If neither of these two options have worked you may need to resort to using the last autosave file, sometimes if Premiere has crashed this can pick up where you left off.

If you have specified the location to autosave your projects navigate there and copy the last autosaved file and open this new copy.

If you need to find the autosave file, in this new project go to file, project settings and in the scratch disks tab Premiere should have the default setting of the last place you autosaved files to, check the file path and navigate to this folder.
