Lesya Ukrainka "The Ancient Tale" | Sergiy Filatov | Listen
The poem "Ancient Tale" by Lesya Ukrainka is considered one of the most outstanding works in Ukrainian literature. In it, the poetess reveals the themes of the people's struggle against tyranny and the role of the poet in the people's liberation struggle. This theme is embodied through two key characters of the work - the people's poet and Count Berthold.
The poem begins with a short introduction, where Lesya Ukrainka promises to tell an "ancient tale". However, in fact, this poem has a deep connection with the real life of the author and the time when she lived.
