How to Install Trans-Am Shock Tower Braces | Mustang, Falcon & Comet
How to install Trans-Am-style shock tower reinforcement braces on an early Ford Mustang, Falcon, or Mercury Comet. These inexpensive weld-in braces reinforce a known weak/flex-prone area around the shock towers and were inspired by the chassis modifications used in 1960s Trans-Am racing.
In this video I install the OpenTracker Racing braces on my 1964 Mercury Comet and show the complete process, including cleaning and prep, proper orientation, fitting and bending the plates, where trimming may be necessary, welding, seam sealer, paint, and a small modification I made to the lower flange to improve fitment.
