We are going to build this website in the following steps.
1: Pick a domian and hosting for your website.
Domain: Is the name of your website.
Hosting: Is the space where your files will be stored.
To get a domain and hosting you need to go to https://designtheway.com/recommended/... and choose managed wordpress hosting and then choose a plan.
Once you do that you will need to choose a domain name for your website. It can be anything like - www.yoursite.com, or .in, or .org, or .net etc.
Once you proceed from there you will get to know if the domain is available or not. If available :) just fill in your details including payment details and hit Pay Now.
2: Install WordPress
Once your purchase is successful you will see a WordPress installation wizard, just choose Stat a new Website and create your WordPress login details by entering an email, username and password. This same details will be used for logging into your WordPress dashboard.
Once the installation is finished your website will be live. You can visit the site by typing your domain name in the browser.
To go to the WordPress Dashboard just type yoursite.com/login, it will take you to the dashboard login page enter your login details to visit the dashboard.
This the place from where you can control your website from.
3: Install Themes and Plugins
Now to install a new theme go to Appearance ➡️ Themes and click Add New. Search for "Astra" theme and install it.
Now install a plugin called "Astra Starter Sites" this has many pre-designed templates which makes website creation much easier. To install a plugin go to Plugins ➡️ Add New and search.
Once the plugin is installed, choose the page builder we are going to use, choose Elementor, it's a powerful page builder which will allow you to create any type of website with simple drag and drop feature for free.
Now choose a template that you like and just click Import site, it will install the required plugins with the dummy data.
4: Edit Content
To edit the dummy content just go to the page and click on "Edit with Elementor" and start editing.
Now to edit the header (logo and menu etc. ) and footer you have to use the WordPress customizer, to go there click on the "Customize" button at the top. You can edit the content by either clicking on the blue pencil icons or from the left panel.
5: Contact Form settings
When you create a website you want to have a contact form from where your visitors can contact you. You need to adjust the settings of the form to get the notification to your email id. To do that in WP Forms go to the form from the dashboard and change the email id in the notification tab.
6: Managing pages (add/delete)
Now to manage your pages go to Pages from the dashboard. To delete any page just hover on the page and click trash.
To create a page simply click on the Add New button and start creating your own page with Elementor's drag and drop feature.
Or you can use templates a pro tip- when you are following a particular theme or style just go the page style you want to use and save the entire page as a template and then import the template in the new page and edit the content.
