The Wa-Wa Method: The Wa-Wa method, in its simplest form, aims to combine every aspect of a player's on-field traits as well as some athletic testing numbers and production metrics to give me a final grade. This is a system that I built in 2020 and have continued to tinker with every year. It grades every trait individually on a weighted average. For example, a Wide Receivers ability to catch the ball or run routes is weighed higher than his ability to block. This is how I rank players as it gives me a way to grade every player equally while also taking into account different styles of play.
In the Draft Profile Videos, I will show you a skill chart with many of the skills that I look at. The grades are on a scale of 1.0-9.0. The following is how I categorize the number grade.
1.0-3.0: Terrible. Will sink his draft stock.
3.1-4.4: Below average or something that needs to improve
4.5: dead average – I probably overuse this early in the process, but I define this number as the line between good and bad on my scale
4.6-5.9: Good. This falls into the category of NFL league average. Plenty good enough to not be an issue at the next level.
6.0-6.9: Very good. Something that consistently impressed me
7.0 -9.0: Elite. Elite is an overused term, and I am guilty of it as well but anything above a 7 on my scale is an elite grade.
