"I think coexistence, particularly with carnivores, means sharing.”
In a place called Cougar Mountain, you might expect to see carnivores. It is part of why Christy Anderson loves living in her neighborhood.
She volunteers with Woodland Park Zoo to monitor nearby carnivore activity. Christy uses motion-triggered cameras to detect wildlife in the area. She reports sightings of bears, bobcats, cougars and more.
Christy knows there are mixed feelings about wildlife in her neighborhood. Some folks fear carnivores or treat them as pests. That is why “coexistence” means so much to Christy. It is an attitude and an outlook. It can transform fear into pride about the ways we share with wildlife."
