Ball Python - Keeping a Snake at Home

Hello everyone! This video, as you might have guessed from the title, is about keeping Ball Pythons Regius. If you like Ball Pythons, then this video is definitely for you. We'll also discuss what kind of terrarium or container is needed for keeping them, or for more budget-friendly keeping. Towards the end of the video, we'll talk a little about shedding. As usual, I've left all the links below. Enjoy watching! 😉 ====Sorry about the microphone )

===METHODS FOR DETERMINING SEX IN A SNAKE
In appearance, male and female snakes are similar. However, with some experience, there are ways to distinguish between them.

TAIL CHARACTERISTICS
Male snakes have a pair of tubular hemipenes (genitals), which are usually located inside their bodies. Essentially, these are two small penises that are stored in the snake's tail. Female snakes do not have hemipenes.

The hemipenes are located just below the cloacal (vent) opening and along the tail on either side of the snake's midline. Since these reproductive organs are located inside a male snake, they may not be immediately obvious. However, there are visible clues that they are there. You can look at the shape and length of the tail to determine whether your snake is male.

Males will have a tail (the part of the snake that begins after the cloacal opening) that is thicker and longer than that of their female counterparts. It also tapers differently—it starts thick and then suddenly thins toward the tip. Female snakes generally have a thinner and shorter tail than males, and it tapers evenly toward the tip.

While the differences can be quite noticeable when comparing snakes side by side, determining the sex of a snake is more difficult unless you have a male and female to compare. This is why the following methods are more commonly used to accurately determine a snake's sex than examining the characteristics of the tail.
The following methods for sexing snakes should only be performed by experienced keepers or veterinary personnel. If you're new to snakes and want to know the sex of your snake, find an experienced reptile keeper or veterinarian to demonstrate these methods. If done incorrectly, there is a risk of injuring the snake.
