[2.11] Overdosed on Tynelol - Homeboye
So sorry for dwindling activity on level reviewing. My real life has had me very busy, so I haven't had a whole lot of time for GD in general.
Anyway, I saw this level on Moosh's first mod level request stream (congratulations to him btw on getting promoted!) This level has some very cool eye catching and mesmerizing effects.
The movements are so smooth and its the perfect length to enjoy everything this has to offer.
Gameplay: The gameplay is not surprisingly the most enjoyable, but it works well for the difficulty. What stands out most is the sync. It is perfect for a 2-3 star level in my opinion. The structuring also adds some charm to the level overall.
Its a bit awkward to play especially with a lot of slopes involved, but its nothing too major. It can also be sightread very well despite the effects' erratic movement.That's about all I have on the gameplay. Excellent job! c:
Decoration: From this level I can see the creator can use some unconventional color scheming, and is well-versed in effects. I love how everything feels alive and the details in the blocks don't skimp out in conjunction with the effects.
Though it feels a bit unorganized and repetitive. I see the use of triangles and squares a lot, and it would help to change up the detail slightly. However it does work with the backgrounds, which are also shape oriented. My favorite part is definitely 0:48.
The way the glowsticks rotate and move around is so smooth and works in conjunction with block detail and the other background details. The color pulsing here is also very nice, albeit a bit too saturated and bright. This would be more of an issue if the level were harder, but it works okay here.
Overall this is a stunning effect level by an unrecognized creator. I can see this getting a high feature place and maybe even an epic. Excellent work Hom3boy! :)
