Coming Home to Cambodia | A Koun Khmer Homecoming (Vlog 1)
Welcome to A Koun Khmer Homecoming Experience December 2025 by Selarati! 🇰🇭
In this vlog (Days 1 & 2), we begin our journey through Cambodia in Phnom Penh, meeting each other for the first time and grounding ourselves in the motherland, starting off with an Orientation and Welcome Dinner.
We explore the history, culture, and everyday life of the capital city, paying respects at Wat Phnom on a Buddhist Holy Day, practicing speaking Khmer and shopping at Central Market, and visiting the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda.
You'll get to meet our first group of Khmer Americans and Khmer Australians and hear why they decided to join me on A Koun Khmer Homecoming Experience (AKKHE), 10 days through Cambodia with Koun Khmer from around the world.
I created Selarati (https://www.selarati.com) and AKKHE for Koun Khmer who grew up outside of Cambodia, like me, and want to reconnect with our culture, history, and identity in a deeper way. It’s not just about visiting places. It’s about slowing down, learning together, holding space for reflection, and experiencing Cambodia with others who understand what it feels like to come home carrying so many layers.
