Connecting Power Tools with Free Downloadable Apps
Which power tools can you connect to an app? How to use phone apps for power tools? Chris Marshall takes a closer look at how to use free downloadable apps to connect with your tools. Some of these apps can tell you if your battery charge is running low, help you locate a missing battery, disable the battery when you don’t want it to work, such as when you have young children in the shop. The DeWalt Tool Connect app also gives you a “Lend” feature that enables the battery for a specified time period and then disables the battery until you reset it. The General Tools and Instruments ToolSmart app connect with measuring tools that record and send measurements to your Android or IOS phone. Milwaukee has installed the Blue Tooth in the tool instead of the battery. Any M18 battery will power these tools. The Milwaukee OneKey app also features several security, inventory, and data management features. Ryobi offers eight measuring and inspection tools that connect to the Ryobi PhoneWorks app.
