Grape Systems exhibited a DLNA Solution at the Embedded Technology 2008 exhibition.
DLNA is an abbreviation for Digital Living Network Alliance and is a global collaboration of approximately 200 companies. According to the guidelines of the organization, DLNA member companies strive to determine standards and specifications so that those standards and specifications can be used to develop consumer electronics and other products such as audio-visual devices and computers that can compatibly exchange data even when the products are made by different manufacturers. Those specifications are provided to every middleware company, and at this show, Grape Systems exhibited a DLNA technology solution from AwoX.
With the digitalization of consumer electronics, video and audio data is handled as digital data, and compatibility with personal computers is improved. DLNA technology is based on this trend and provides guidelines for ensuring interoperability of information based consumer electronics.
The DLNA 2.0 protocol will be available in the near future, and with this protocol, Network AV streaming will be possible so that contents can be viewed regardless of where the contents are located. For example, photos taken with a digital camera can be viewed on a TV and also printed via a network. Various other application developments like this will also be possible. Grape Systems plans to continue supporting the market share in Japan as an agent for AwoX.
