This video demonstrates the design and simulation of a Semi controlled rectifier using MATLAB/Simulink. Semi controlled rectifier is used for conversion of AC to DC during both positive and negative half-cycles. Semi controlled rectifier employs two thyristor and two diodes. The thyristor T1 is triggered during the positive half cycle. In the negative half cycle, the thyristor T2 is triggered and T1 is turned off due to natural commutation by the supply. A 230V AC supply with a firing angle of 30 degrees is considered in this design. Since only two thyristors are employed it reduces the overall cost and the switches can be easily controlled.
