19 Years for Raping His Minor Daughter
Today, a jury sentenced an Aktobe resident to 19 years in prison for the rape of his underage daughter. Our correspondents have the details of this high-profile crime. It took several months for the trial to apprehend the perpetrator, and police spent many days investigating this high-profile case. After all, Ermek Akhmetov fled the city and went into hiding after raping his own daughter. His photo and wanted listings were circulated throughout social media groups last year. Ultimately, the case was investigated, evidence was gathered, and it was brought to trial. The hearings were closed to the press because it concerns the sexual integrity of children.
Ultimately, Akhmetov, who is 36, was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 120, Part 4, and Article 124, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The court sentenced the rapist to 19 years in a maximum-security prison and ordered him to pay five million tenge in moral damages.
Every year, dozens of children fall victim to pedophiles in our country. One of the most recent crimes is simply shocking: the rape of a nine-year-old girl returning from school at the end of last year. Almat Mukhamedzhanov, director of the "Nemolchi.kz" foundation, shared these statistics. In 2019 alone, 750 crimes against the sexual integrity of minors were committed in Kazakhstan.
The detection rate for such crimes is generally 100%. However, after a pedophile is imprisoned, their child victim is left alone to cope with their grief. To help the victimized child and their family cope with such trauma, a system of rehabilitation measures is necessary. Unfortunately, such support measures are not provided by law.
This case has not yet been resolved. The defendant's lawyer has already announced that he will appeal the verdict. By law, the defense has 15 days to do this. Incidentally, Akhmetov himself has not admitted guilt.
