Stable Diffusion ControlNet vs. Photoshop Generative Fill: Expanding Image Backgrounds
When using a specific image, you may want to randomly fill in the surrounding background, which isn't visible in the original, to enlarge it. This is commonly called outpainting. While simple backgrounds can be easily enlarged, in most cases, it requires a complex and difficult process.
This can be accomplished with Stable Diffusion, and ControlNet recently added this functionality.
If you have ControlNet installed as an extension, set the Control Type to Inpaint and the Preprocessor to inpaint_only_lama. If this option isn't visible, update ControlNet.
You can customize the other settings, but set Control Mode to ControlNet is more important and Resize Mode to Resize and Fill. This will enlarge the original image, filling in the empty space with the image size specified above.
