gnome-shell without maximise and minimise
YOU CAN SET MIDDLE CLICK TO MINIMIZE IN GCONF/DCONF.
look for the key "action_middle_click_titlebar" you could change it to right click too if you felt like it.

they've been taken out in the latest release.
BUT, there are just so many other ways to shift between windows.
maximise is probably the most redundant button in window management. but for some minimise will be missed. workspaces are a good concept and i think worth the effort to get used to.
